MUST recently celebrated a new era in how we care for families who are homeless. What was once a MUST office building has been transformed into a brand new home in Canton, made possible by the collective efforts of staff, volunteers, and community partners. The home will first welcome a family of four from MUST’s Permanent Supportive Housing program, which serves individuals and families experiencing chronic homelessness. Named Kendall House, the home honors Kendall Jones, who retired from MUST on Jan. 1 after 15 years as a staff member and many more as a dedicated volunteer.
As Kendall shared during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, “This will be a place where families can heal, stabilize, flourish, and serve as a transformation for that family. Every person, regardless of economic status, deserves to have a place to live that’s safe, affordable, and beautiful. Kendall House checks those boxes.”
Special thanks go out to Batson-Cook Construction for working so graciously with MUST to build the home, Wells Fargo Foundation for their generous $50,000 grant toward construction, and the Cherokee County CDBG Office for additional funding and guidance. We are also deeply grateful to Woodstock Furniture Outlet, whose generous donation furnished Kendall House and helped transform it into a warm, welcoming home where a family can truly begin again.
